Cant mount my cd burner

Im trying to mount my second cd reader which is a cd burner. Should it be like this?

/dev/cdrom /media/cdrom0 iso9660 ro,user,noauto 0 0
/dev/cdrom /media/cdrom1 iso9660 ro,user,noauto 0 0

ali@pullansreturn:/media$ mount /media/cdrom1
mount: No medium found

Has the kernel even detected it?

/dev/cdrom will be a link to the actual device ID. i.e. /dev/hdc etc. So /dev/cdrom will point to your first CD drive. You need to check to see if there is a /dev/cdrom1 or use the second CD drives actual device ID.

"No medium found"...is there a CD in your drive? I remember getting frustrated at mount only to find that I forgot to stick my CD in.

I managed to mount a cd.

/dev/hdc /media/cdrom0 iso9660 ro,user,noauto 0 0
/dev/hdd /media/cdrom1 iso9660 ro,user,noauto 0 0

it looks like linux places the cdrom readers in hdc and hdd.

FYI
/dev/hda - 1st IDE controller master
/dev/hdb - 1st IDE controller slave
/dev/hdc - 2nd IDE controller master
/dev/hdd - 2nd IDE controller slave
