Cant Login to Main account, only Guest Ubuntu 12.04
 

I was in the middle of installing Amd-catalyst drivers for my computer when the install failed and I opened up tty because a wiki said too. I then typed xstart but nothing happended.

Then I couldn't get out of tty so I restarted my computer. After I restarted I tried to login to my user account and it brought up the tty screen and displays the following for about 1 second.

"checking battery state"
"stopping system v runlevel compatability"

Then I am immediately brought back to the login screen. I can login into the guest account with no problems. Can someone help me login again. I have suspiscions that it has to do with xstart

Have you tried booting to recovery mode?

If you can, you may be able to run the diagnostics you need or at least collect more information.
