Cant login to a NIS server from client
hi,
I configured a SUSE enterprise 10 server as NIS and also a fedora 6 NIS client. I have made sure that all the services are running both in the server and client (from google help). When I boot up my client machine, it even lists all the users that I have created in the server. But when I try to login it says. " Incorrect username or password". If I enter the client system using the local username, and then if then run "ypcat passwd" or "ypcat passwd.byname", I can see the users in the NIS server. I have checked the yp.conf, nsswitch.conf, etc/sysconfig/network and the etc/hosts file. They all look fine, but still I cant login to the client, even though the users I added in the server get displayed in the login screen of the NIS client. The SUSE server has also samba running and I can join the samba domain from windows client machines. I have configured the Server through yAST and then through the terminal also, but no luck. I have also disabled the firewalls at the Server as well as the client. Since I run a university Lab, kindly advise me...please Regards John |
