Q: Exactly what "Linux" do you have? The name and version would be helpful.

Q: You're trying to boot from a CD, correct?

Q: What kind of PC do you have? What kind of processor? How big is the disk? Is there/was there another OS previously installed?

Boot the Ubuntu (don't try to install) and open a terminal and run these commands. Post all the output
Code:

sudo fdisk -l
sudo parted -l

Well that doesn't make a lot of sense. Try this and post the output
Code:

udevadm info --name=/dev/sdb --query=all | grep -i partition

its not dead because i can see it in the bios nd i did a test disk i can see my hdd is fine but something is wrong.

szboardstretcher 06-20-2012 12:46 AM

If you are already hosed,.. why not just manually format and try installation again? Partitioning, new file system-ing, and fsck-ing will either work, or point out any faults.

jefro 06-20-2012 02:01 PM
