Now with mine, there is a section where I can decide on the range of IPs that can be assigned by dhcp. If you are lucky, you can get it to assign ipv4 addresses. Give it a go.

i cant seem to login to the cable modem using the default gatway in windows it looks like dhcp onlys works here!

I meant it is for execution - past it in shell window or run 'source ' builtin on your file (type 'source file' in command-line).

heres what i did opened a terminal did su - became root, pasted what you wanted me to put, got the same line.

it sounds like a hard issue, i will switch to xp server.
