Cant get puppy 5.1 to work using DVI input to monitor (hp2310m)

Newbie here
I Installed puppy lucid on new hp 64 bit computer,
works fine if I use VGA input to monitor, goes blank if I
use DVI input.
I am using several system such as Windows 7, Ubuntu, Slax,
PCLinuxOS, PC/OS, ect...

Some distro will work with DVI, some wont.

I love to use Puppy to set up the grub boot loader.

I keep having to change the monitor cable from DVI to VGA
when I switch to different system.

Is there a way around this issue?

What do I need to do?

Thanks RL

Which ones...

Which of the operative systems connect through DVI? I would guess that Windows with an installed driver would be one, and PCLinuxOS, if you have an Nvidia graphics card also works with DVI. Have you tried to install a proprietary driver with any of the others?

Thanks for the reply

Windows 7, Ubuntu, Slax 6 work out of the box.

PCLinuxOS, Puppy 5.2 will not.

I have looked for drivers for the latter OS, couldn,t find.

I found a post in a forum that suggest to find and change
the following text "OPTION "connected monitor" DPF-1"

I have no idea where to look to find that configuration file.

I must find some tutorial on Linux

If it is Nvidia...

Is your card Nvidia? If so and you are using the Nvidia driver, there is a README that may help you to configure your DVI.

http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree8...DME/index.html

If you have a graphics card from ATI or an onboard Intel graphics chip, I am out of my depth. Are you booting the distributions from a live-cd or installing them? If the latter, are you trying to use the graphics module that is installed, or have you installed a proprietary driver? If that is the case, are you trying to download a driver from the distribution repository or directly from ATI/Nvidia?

The OPTION may be in the your installed "xorg.conf" file, but not all distributions now have one, although such a file can be generated and then edited.

What is your HP system and what graphics card does it have?

More detailed information will help you receive more qualified answers.

Graphics card

The system is HP with intel quad core processor
The graphics card is ATI RADEON HD 5570
I am booting from the hard drive I have several partitions set up.
I use grub bootloader to select OS
I use the Graphic module that is installed,
I will try to download the driver from ATI.
I will search for 'OPTION' in xorg.conf

Thanks so much for the help, I will post if I can solve
the issue.

Xandros also gives you a good grub interface(press F9 whilst booting)
