cant get my ubuntu live cd to work

Sorry im a total n00b but i need to know.

my friend gave me the ubuntu live cd, so i slapped it in one of my comps and it booted up and i was happy and all.

but now im using a different comp and it wont boot.

it detects my cd, and then gives the error: graphics file "(cd)"/boot/grub/message" missing

plz help me if u can because i would love to be able to use ubuntu again.

It's entirely possible there's just something wrong hardware-wise with the other computer. Maybe the BIOS is off or the CD-ROM drive is faulty...?
