[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hi, I'm A newbie to linux i'm running ubuntu 8.04 on a hp with amd64LIVE.
I've tried just about everything i can think of do get this done. I've made iso images using DeVeDe and burned it with K3B but the disk reads empty. I've tried to burn mpeg files but that did me no good. Can anyone please help me? What should I Do? or What can I do? also I'm still pretty new to the commend line.

A quich search turned up:

http://blogcritics.org/archives/2007/02/05/150718.php

You may be looking for some option to "Burn Image to Disk" or "Burn ISO to Disk" as opposed to just "Burn"

Unhappy No the dvd's are trash.

No the dvd's are trash they can't be used for anything more than frisbees.
I have searched and searched have tried everything nothing seems to works.
Is there a command line to convert my avi files into an iso that will work.
The last iso image I did would only play for 1 second in my pc, but would just show a title 1 display in my standalone dvd player. I think the iso's that I created are blank for some reason its not putting the info there but my browser says that the image is a 2.0GB image. any help

thanx....

It is not necessary you create an Iso image. From K3b just create a DATA DVD with your favourite avi files as they were "normal files".
They will play in your standalone player too.
Never used DeVeDe so cannot give any hint.
Hope this helps

Try a different DVD? company that is.
Maybe try Brasero - that program is good. I had problems with K3B.
Burn as a data disc.

So..I understand you got your DVD with avi files working on the PC not on the standalone player. It make sense as DVD readers on PC are less sensitive to non standard DVD formats.
A couple of questions:
Is the session closed after burning?
Can dvd burned with Windows (if available) be played succesfully? ( with the same equipment, of course)
Ciao

Question re: urka

No the session does not close it says it can't verify the info that was burned. I can try to burn it on another pc with windows i'll let you know what happens with that.
thanks,
Nevis

Before burning it you could try playing it using xine or mplayer. One of them will play a dvd image file. Also try mounting the image and see if there is a DVD structure. This will verify that the DVD image is OK and that the problem isn't with DeVeDe.
