can't get Cheops to work???

I am trying to run Cheops on Redhat 9 but can't seem to figure out what is going on. I run cheops-agent and I get the following:

init_osscan(): Initalizing the muteciessesss
init_osscan(): finished Initalizing the muteciessesss
dequeue_osscan(): dequeue going to sleep

I then run cheops-ng and put in my local ip 192.168.220.43 and get

Connected to ipv4 agent.

but then nothing comes up, nothing... what is going on? can't get Cheops to make anything, much less the whole network. so #$%@ frustrated. please help.
