I just compiled a new 2.6.24 kernel. Now my ipod does not automount. I am also not sure where to find the mount point.

When I list the hardware lshw I can find my ipod.
How do I mount it?

One thing you can try, look in the /dev directory and see what sdxx disks show up like sda1 and sda2. If you already have SATA disks then the ipod may show up as sdb1 and sdb2. You will see two entries since the ipod has two partitions. The second partition is the one you want mounted. you can check what is in dev by just doing ls /dev
Once you see how it shows up then you can verify that /etc/fstab is configured correctly for that disk.

I just sort of figured out the problem.
My computer has only 2 usb ports. I have 4 usb devices, printer, mouse, ipod, and pda. I bought a belkin 4 port multiplug usb adapter and had the ipod plugged into the belkin unit.

Linux somehow is not mounting to the ipod through the belking unit. When I plugged the ipod directly into the usb port on my computer it works. My printer has the same problem. My mouse works on it.

That is why the bus info shows 3:1.3.

I am not sure if it is possible to get the ipod and printer to work on the belkin multi usb port.

Update---
The belkin 4 port hub has a choice of two power sources. A plug in transformer or the computer bus. When the hub draws power from the bus, devices which use power will not work. Such devices are a camera or my ipod for example. The hub has to be switched to external power to get these devices to work in linux.
