Angry Canon i560 driver for Ubuntu 11.04 or Mint 11


Hi can you advise me please where I can get a driver?This Printer worked fine with Ubuntu 10.10 and Mint 10 !! Michael

That printer is not listed on as being supported. I looked at Canon, here, and linux is not listed as a supported OS.

What driver had it working on previous versions? Try that one.

Camorri..Cant say as it just printed with CUPS using MINT 10 and Ubuntu 10.10..I didn't add any drivers?..Michael NB [and of course it works with Win XP as well!]So if I want to use it with Linux I will have to reinstall the older OS.

What you can try, is to boot the system off one of the old install CD's and try it live. If it works, have a look in a konsole as the output of the command lsmod. That will list all the loaded drivers. The list may be rather long.

Another solution is to run the printer in with V-box. Not ideal, I do that with my flatbed scanner since there is no linux driver.

Have you had a look at Ubuntu forums for a solution?

The printer was probably detected during the install process, and the driver added then.

Canon i560 printer..Linux Driver

Hi..The Printer was also connected and switched on when I installed Natty but wasn't detected as it was in Mint 10 /Ubuntu 10.10.I will look at the other suggestion though..Michael
