Cano scan Lide 210 usb scanner

I was trying to figure out how to make this scanner work. I downloaded some drivers, said for linux, but it wont open. I saw a thread some place to add some lines in the terminal, with ppa in them, it came back said those are not supported. Any one know a simple fast direct way to make this scanner work?
I am not new to computers. I used to run red hat years ago, and after trying rosa 17.3 I am sold on staying linux.

http://askubuntu.com/questions/34900...anner-lide-210

it looks like it was working in 2013

http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/...genesys.5.html

sane should see it
Code:
sane-find-scanner
dose that command show it (the scanner is plugged in and turned on? )

is xsane installed ?
run it
Code:
xsane

# you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.

# Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be supported by
# SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's

Driver was from https://www.hamrick.com/vuescan/canon_lide_210.html
Its not a big deal, I still have my XP - and its off line so I wont have MS problems. The scanner works on it ok.

for the closed source "vuescan"
you just run the program
Code:
cd /To/the/location/ofTheFolder

./vuescan
a screen should pop up

but Xsane in the ubuntu repos should see it just fine

DJM78,

Welcome to LQ.

I use Linux Mint 17.3 and I have the same Canon LiDE 210 scanner.

It is one of the few bits of Canon hardware that is Linux-friendly and it works perfectly.

It is recognised by LM and is true plug and play.

Menu > Graphics > Simple Scan.

Well, now if some one knows how to make the midi play
I tried adding a few of the players, but still no midi.

DJM,78,

Glad to hear that your scanner is working.

You really need to start a new thread regarding MIDI.
