hi friends i am using opensuse 10.3 ..I cannt use broadband internet connection in my pc ..network card automatically detect it but still cannot open pages in firefox..help me in this regards......

What kind of internet connection do you have? eg cable, DSL
Do you have a router?

Is your connection working correctly with other systems?

Regardless of whether there is a router, is the connection to the computer set up for a fixed (static) IP address or for DHCP (dynamic IP)

Please provide as much detail as possible about the configuration.

Also, open a terminal, and enter:
ping www.google.com

If there is no response, then try (numeric IP for Google):
ping 74.125.19.99
If this version works, then you simply need to enter you DNS host information into the network configuration.

I have broadband internet connection in my house and I am using opensuse 10.3 with windows xp in my pc. The broadband connection is working fine with xp but when I am going to use it in opensuse it doesnot work..The broadband connection has a router and I am using LAN cards..I am using Yast to configure it and the network connection automatically detect the ethernet card as etho0 by DHCP...but still I cannot access the internet using firefox...please help me in this regards

Also, since you have a router, try pinging it:
ping 192.168.1.1

Only configuring the machine won't land you up on what is called "the internet". After configuring your ,machine try and connect the net using "kinternet" or "network manager". It would then be possible to access the net.
