Cannot type capital R/U/S as well as the &-symbol with left shift key (Ubuntu 12.04)

(SOLVED) Nevermind, I'm by far the stupidest person on the planet. Something had gotten stuck on the Insert key so it was constantly being pressed down. After pressing it one time it started working fine. Duh.

I just noticed that for some reason I cannot use the shift key along with r/u/s/7 to make them capital letters or the & sign. Everything was working fine until just now. The only way for me to make them is to turn on capslock to type them, or I have to hold shift, then hold the letter/number, and then let go of shift while still holding the letter/number for it to type. This is only for the left shift key; the right shift key operates normally. Unfortunately I never use the right one.

This just recently happened in the past couple of hours. It worked fine before then. I've downloaded a plethora of programs in the past couple hours so I'm not sure which one is causing the problem (if that's even it). Is there any way for me to check which program has any special commands for these keys?

Most of the programs I've downloaded are run through Wine and PlayOnLinux. Not sure if this is a common error or not or if those programs are known to cause errors like this. The problem persists even after restarting the computer, even at the login screen to Ubuntu. Any fixes are greatly appreciated. It's really bugging me.
