Cannot ssh from WAN to Mandrake 9.2

I've installed Mandrake 9.2, and found that I can only ssh from the LAN and not from outside. I have set up port forwarding on the router and that's working fine. I have never had a problem with RedHat but it seems Mandrake is more secure. Is there anything I can change to make ssh available from outside the LAN? I haven't checked other ports but I assume they will be blocked as well. Below is a list of everything that's running. Thanks.

uh.. first things first. Is it just not connecting or are you getting some kind of specific error message? Do the logs show anything?

If I use SSH Secure Client, it says Connection Failed. If I ssh from Linux, it says Connection Timed Out.

At the moment I'm having to VNC onto a Windows PC on the LAN and then SSH from there to the server. Not ideal!

I'm only running Mandrake at runlevel3, I'm not interested in running X.
