Cannot see Shared folders in Ubuntu 8.04

Recently, I switched over to Ubuntu on my Laptop and am running Vista Ultimate on my Desktop machine.

I cannot seem to see any of my shared folders from my Vista machine in Ubuntu. The odd thing is that I have no problem accessing the same shard folders from my XBOX using XBMC.

If I go to Places>Network>Desktop-PC the shared folders are just not there.

Any Ideas would be great.
-Thanks

In the same window browser, in the address bar if you type smb://<IP of the system> can you see the shared folders that you have put as shared?

not 100% on vista, but i know that on xp the guest account MUST be activated to access windows shares remotely.

hope this helps!

I was able to get this working and the folders are now mounted on my desktop (see url) however, I cannot get them permanently mounted in my home folder for some reason. I have followed a few guides but something is just not working right for me.
