cannot see my own ip in mozilla?
Hi there I can type the IP address if another computer on my LAN into Mozilla, and it loads up fine (say http://192.168.0.243)
Now, my own (FC2) IP address (from ifconfig) is 192.168.0.177, and when I try this address I get: "The connection was refused when attempting to contact 192.168.0.177" Could anyone help me out here? I am seeing the exact same message when trying to connect to Oracle, which is what I really need to do. DeanB |
are you sure you habe a web server and oracle running on 192.168.0.177 ?

Ok I restarted and then (before bringing up oracle or anything else) I typed my IP address into mozilla, and the same thing happened. :( Could this be a firewall thing on my own linux box thats preventing me seeing my own address?

Also are you using a router? |
I can ping 177 from a different computer (XP machine) successfully, but I can't type the IP address into the XP box's IE. Is there a service that I need to enable on my linux box?
