Cannot reach ESX server through VMclient or http

Hi all,

Let me try to explain what I'm experiencing. I have a VMWare ESX Server 3.0.1 which is running a couple of VMS's.

[root@vmdev00 root]# uname -a
Linux vmdev00.getronics.nl 2.4.21-37.0.2.ELvmnix #1 Mon Sep 25 22:18:34 PDT 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Until yesterday it was all working fine. I was able to access my machine through VMClient 2.0 and http://myipadress.

All the sudden this didn't work any more. I haven't made any changes and I am able to ping. This is the error message I get:

VMware Infrastructure Client could not establish the initial connection with server "myipadress".
Details: The server took too long to respond.

I am not the one who's initially set up this server, and the one who did isn't working here any more. Basicly I have no idea where to start looking.

So any help would be extremely welcome, thanks in advance.

Hello Amy84,

Not sure if this is Linux related. It seems to me that this is a VMWare issue.

With Google I found this:
http://communities.vmware.com/thread/113515

Another possibility is (in dutch ;-) )
http://www.vmug.nl/modules.php?name=...ewtopic&t=3964

Hope this helps...

Hey Tim,

I wasn't sure either whether this is the right place. But since I'm not able to access with http://myipadress,I was thinking it has something to do with my connections (configured in Linux).
Also I guess I must have some log files there (still trying to find them though )

Thanks for the links, unfortunately they didn't work for me.
