cannot oper root device


I am trying to install Linux-Mandrake 6.0 on a hp with a clean and with a active partion on the harddrive. I am reciving a VFS: Cannot open root devicfe 08:21
I have looked at this web site like problem the solution is to enable SATA. I am booting to the CD-ROM to install the software. any sugestions??

make sure that you don't have any partitions on the hard drive mounted.

You'll have a hard time with Mandrake 6.0 which was released in 1999. It's not going to work on recent hardware.
