cannot open terminal window

hey there,
im using ubuntu dapper drake, and i can no longer open the terminal window... i go to applications > accesssories > terminal and cick, then it opens a window saying "starting terminal" and then crashes(it just disappears)...

i only installed ubuntu this morning so this might be really easy to solve... but i did not make any major changes just before it happened, and it was working... the last thing i did before i noticed this was try to install flash for firefox. (which didnt work)
well thanks in advance for your time and advice... :D

Dont use Konsole. Try Xterm, Aterm, Eterm they are light and never give problems.

You should bother http://www.kde.org/ about your Konsole problem though.

ps: I assumed you run Konsole when you did applications > accessories :)

gnome is the default DE for ubuntu, not KDE, so i'm gonna guess it's gnome-terminal. I personally prefer aterm to that. If you want to troubleshoot the problem, get another terminal like suggested, then run gnome-terminal (if you're indeed running gnome that is) from it, you will get some message spam that may help you see what's wrong (and you can post it here..)

i am indeed using gnome, sorry i should have mentioned that...
terminal still did not load when logging in from another user account...
i installed aterm, and it seems to work with no problems, now i will try using aterm to launch gnome-terminal
thanks for all the tips!
