cannot mount internal hard drive: .hal-mtab and .hal-mtab-lock messed up

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hello World! I'm new here and I have my first test for yall =]

So just the other day I could see my other internal hdd in storage media and then later I got the famous "Cannot obtain lock on /media/.hal-mtab". I've done several things that I've found while browsing but nothing is working.

When I look in /media I see this and I know this isn't right:

root@XWAFFS:/media# ls -al
ls: cannot access .hal-mtab-lock: No such file or directory
ls: cannot access DRV2_VOL1: No such file or directory
ls: cannot access .hal-mtab: No such file or directory
total 20
drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 4096 2009-06-13 21:35 .
drwxr-xr-x 21 root root 4096 2009-04-11 18:39 ..
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 2008-10-01 16:01 cdrom -> cdrom0
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2008-10-01 16:01 cdrom0
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2008-10-01 16:01 cdrom1
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 45 2008-10-01 16:02 .directory -> /etc/kubuntu-default-settings/directory-media
d????????? ? ? ? ? ? DRV2_VOL1
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 7 2008-10-01 16:01 floppy -> floppy0
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2008-10-01 16:01 floppy0
-????????? ? ? ? ? ? .hal-mtab
-????????? ? ? ? ? ? .hal-mtab-lock

Call me crazy but that's not supposed to look like that right? I've tried removing them bc I know they will just be recreated but I can't.

ANY help is greatly appreciated!

Yea I was doing fsck a few days ago before it went all haywire but it didnt seem like it did what it was supposed to do. I don't think everything got fixed.

Thx for reminding me about that. I'll give it another go and let you know
