Cannot mount cdrom

hi i am trying to mount my cdrom in slackware but i keep getting a message saying that hdb is not a valid block device. in my /etc/fstab i have it configure with /dev/hdb /media/dvd0 iso9660 noauto, user,ro 00 i also had it configure with /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom auto noauto, user ro 00 and that didn't work either. any suggestion how i can get my cdrom to mount. actually sometimes it does mount and ask me to open it floder /media/hbd but when i open it the folder is blank.

What references to the drive do you see in dmesg, as which device is
it being picked up??

Cheers,
