Cannot Login-Blackout.

I have dual boot option in my system.-Win2000 & RH9.It has been so for the last 2 years.Since couple of days iam unable to use linux.I am able to boot linux. It lists all the services while booting as OK.At the end ,a black screen comes onto the screen displaying the message:

red ha tlinux (8.0) Psyche
localhost login:

Till this point it works normal.

After that i should have seen the login screen. But all i could see is a black screen. And i cannot login into any account as the screen is dead.

Also ,it is shutting down properly. What should i do to use linux.

Thanks in advance,
Sherlock.

what do u mean by saying the screen is dead.
You cant input stuff w/ the keyboard?
Check all the messages that flash by at boot for anything weird.
Whats the last thing you did to the system?

Maybe try d/ling a floppy image of a bootdisk and using rawrite or something like it in windoze to get urself into linux.
Once inside poke around for changes u may have made.

After booting , the screen displays the message:

red ha tlinux (8.0) Psyche
localhost login:

Then the screen just turns black & blank.
Then again it shows the above message. In the intermediate time,I try to login as root ,but to no avail.(KB works fine)

It continues to toggle in this way.

All i had done was that the last time,i had given the command reboot from the console. After shutting down, some display settings of the monitor had come on the screen and vanished.
Thats it ,apart from that i havent changed anything.
