Cannot install the samba package...it says you ain't registered to RHN
 

When I try to install samba packages in RHEL 6...it says that your system is not registered with RHN, and finally no samba package avaolable.

Well, are you registered with Red Hat? If not, then there is your answer.

RHEL requires a subscription for updates, which requires you to register with RHN. If you have paid for the subscription, you need to register the machine. If you haven't paid, you need to pay before you can get updates. If you don't want to pay, then choose another distro.

Yes. If you don't want to pay for the RHN subscription, then you need to choose another distro (short for distribution), such as CentOS.

CentOS and Scientific Linux are basically clones of RHEL where you don't have to pay.

No reinstall required to migrate to Centos either. Google redhat to Centos :-)

I got assisted by my Red Hat Certified Friends....thy tried to configure YUM server....and then install samba packages....though packages got installed but it still says smb unreconized service.....:(

You've now paid to use RHEL and gotten access to RHN?

Regardless, your new question above should be in a separate thread. When you start that new thread, give details on what you were doing when it said "smb unrecognized service"

And spell out exactly what your configuration is---eg RHEL using RHN, RHEL using CentOS repositories, etc.
