cannot install plugin for abiword 2.4

I am on Kubuntu 8.04. I installed abiword via adept and am trying to install grammar checker via Tools-->plugins. I get:

error getting information for '/home/albert/.Abisuite/AbiWord-2.4/plugins No such file or directory

Apparently AbiWord 2.4 in kubuntu doesnt contain it or it is somewhere it shouldn't be.
Could someone help. Perhaps I should upgrade to new 2.6.6 version. How would I do that?
Thanks.
Albert

A newer version of Abiword is available through synaptic.

Visit
Code:
http://abisource.com/wiki/Install_on_Ubuntu
Remove the old abiword and install the newer version from synaptic. While installing install the missing plugins as well.

Synaptic on Kubuntu 8.04 lists only abiword 2.4.6 versions, as adept did. How do I get newest version 2.6.6?

Having trouble downloading from source. In Kubuntu 8.04, when I click on Repositories in Synaptic, a window titled Repositories rather than Software sources pops up looking nothing like the instructions on Swik and making no mention of Third Party Software. I went to Adept, clicked Adept-->Manage Repositories-->Third Party Software, then clicked available sources and closed window. Adept appeared to download sources but when I search for abiword it brings up 2.4.6 again. How do I get to 2.6.6 which is apparently in Third Party Sources somewhere?
