Cannot get soundcard to work through ALSA
I posted not too long ago on this and got nowhere, so I just wiped my system and have started again hoping I could get things resolved - no such luck.
I've installed 2005.0 for AMD64 and followed the Gentoo ALSA guide to the letter. I've built modular soundcard support as indicated and compiled my soundcard driver as a module too. I first of all run lspci to see my card and get: Code:
# lspci -v | grep -i audio I run alsaconf and select my driver from the list it provides but when it exits I get the message: Code:
* Storing ALSA Mixer Levels... I don't know what I've done wrong here, I even tried doing this using alsa-driver having recompiled my kernel without ALSA support but get the same thing. Any ideas? 10x... |
i have Asrock Mb, sis sound card (on board), intel8x0 ALSA driver... No errors, but no sound... I think you (and i ) have to buy other sound card :(

I, too have an ASRock MB (K8S8X) - I think it's the bloody CMI9739 chip that the SI7012 uses that's causing the problem. I really don't understand how this refuses to work as I have ran SuSE 9.2, Knoppix, Kanotix, etc and the sound works perfectly.
Total loss... 10x... |
