Cannot get past install at kboot prompt - YDL 6.0 on PS3
Can someone point me in the right direction? I have searched for any file named install in kboot and found nothing. So when I follow the YDL 6.0 documentation to install_ps3_1080p (my tv is capable and I have a HDMI) I get a file not found response. Am I missing something here?
Hi, i had this problem, it just sat on kboot. Found out my keyboard wasn't working, had to plug its bluetooth usb adapter in to get it working again (ps3 bluetooth doesnt work in linux) then i just press enter and it went to the loading screen.
Thanks for your reply TiMiX. I have the keyboard and mouse connected via USB (in fact with a PS/2-USB adaptor) and this is ok. I beleive that the problem is with the DVD medium. As I understand, BD should read DVD-R and DVD+R. I burned the YDL 6.0 DVD onto a DVD-R. I have reburned it onto a DVD+R and will try again tonight.
BTW after burning the DVD-R, I could not read the DVD in my laptop DVD player and it also showed up as a BD Data source in the PS3 XBM.
I have now succesfully installed YDL 6.0. The DVD was burned again from the iso image to a DVD+R blank disk and this was read from both my laptop DVD player and the BD player.
The reason that I was unable to find install anywhere was that the DVD-R image was not read by the BD device.

Hi Sharmo,
kboot is the Linux installer. You should have a copy of kboot in the directory PS3/otheros. It is called "otheros.bld". If your DVD burn is readable by the ps3, then it should read this directory from the DVD and fire up otheros.bld (kboot).
You can also copy "otheros.bld" to a directory created and named PS3/otheros on a removable medium (such as a thumb drive) - copy it from your dvd to the thumb drive and plug-in the thumb drive. When you then fire up the Install other OS from the PS3 XMB it will look for otheros.bld in all media drives.
Hope this advice helps.
