I have Ubuntu 11.04 0n and HP tx 1000.I cannot seem to get the DVD to play.

I already ran and installed:
Code:
sudo apt-get install libdvdread4
sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh
Still does not work.

Here is everything on my pci:

I don't think your DVD player will show up as a PCI device. Can you give us
Code:
dmesg
to see if it's discovered during POST.
Play Bonny!

You may need to add yourself to cdrom group.
You can do it through Gui version under System>>Administration>>Users and Groups, Highlight user name on left of panel, click on "Advanced Settings" and put a check in all appropriate boxes.
Also click on "Manage Groups" and add there.
You can also do it directly through
Quote:
sudo nano /etc/group
or root

nano /etc/group

Hmmm... It's definitely seen at boot time. Does /dev/sr0 exist when you put a CD in? Can you mount it manually? There's usually an entry in mnttab to automatically mount CDs/DVDs. What's in mnttab? (Mental aberation kicked in.. AArrgghh!, is it mnttab? Looks wrong... It's the file that's read and used to mount your filesystems. When mounted you can find them in fstab... What's its name??? )

Play Bonny!
