Cannot get Audigy or onboard sound card after installing Slackware 12.0
 

I've just installed Slackware 12.0 on a new machine and have gotten everything working except the audio. alsaconf detects both the onboard card and a SoundBlaster Audigy card, but neither one will actually produce sound after being selected. I've made sure the volume is up on alsamixer several times.
I just need to get one of the two devices working (don't care which for the moment).

just a few things,

i dont know if your aware of this, but sometimes for SB cards (mine included) in 'alsamixer' '0' mutes the card, while 'MM' actually gives sound, so try toggling the 'M' key a few times while youve got an audio file playing.

also try disabling the onboard sound in the bios.
