Cannot find the server at start.ubuntu.com error after restart new Ubuntu Install

I am stuck. I have been reading what seems like endless forum posts and answers online to this issue, but I cannot find a solution that works. I am not familiar with Ubuntu AT ALL. We recently installed the new .4 version of Ubuntu onto our server with the help of a programmer. When he was done everything worked fine. We restarted the server and now cannot access the internet. The website that is on the server still shows up online. I wanted to list everything we have done so far... but now it's too much to list. Everything we have done, we have restored to how we found it (no permanent changes). Since we cannot access the internet, the programmer who did everything cannot get into the system. I feel like this is not a hard fix... but not only are we not that familiar with Ubuntu, this new interface is also very confusing for us so we cannot find things as easily yet.

I am reaching out now to see if anyone has ideas! I do not know what information is needed to assess this? I'll do my very best to try and provide that. I really appreciate your time and help!

Basically, you need to set up your network by hand, it's not hard. Use this http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handboo...ap=3#doc_chap3 as reference. Although this is Gentoo documentation it is fairly generic.
