cannot connect to my wireless what happened
 

just updated to ubuntu 11.10, cannot connect to my wireless, didn't have this problem with 11.04, what happened? and what do i do?

Check your network manager settings and make sure you selected the right network and put in the right passwords, or at least see if you can see any wireless networks.
Also, many laptops at least (maybe desktops, I'm not sure) have either a switch or key-combination to enable or disable the wireless card, check and make sure you didn't accidentally disable it.

If that's not the case, open a terminal and type
to see if your wireless is actually detected.

maybe ubuntu dropped support for your driver, try linux mint instead..

i opened up the terminal and enter "sudo iwconfig" and it didn't show any wireless whatsoever. what now?

When I encounter something like this immediately after updating (but before rebooting), running to ensure that all the bits and pieces are as expected sometimes helps. If you've already rebooted and still have a problem, my suggestion isn't going to help.
