Cannot become SU

All of a sudden, i cannot use the su - commad. When i run it and type in the correct superuser password, it says password incorrect.

I can log in as root and connect fine.

any ideas?

Log in as root and change the password to something else, and then log in as a normal user and type "su root" and when asked for your password enter the password you changed it to.
If that doesn't work I have no clue whats wrong.

reboot using your boot disk, and enter:

linux single [return]

next you should get # prompt. type:

passwd

linux will prompt you for a new root password which you should enter

Hit Ctrl and D to reboot (remove your bootdisk) and log-in. your new password should work now.
