Cannot access windows share

I've goen thru just about every post on the internet for an answer to this problem but nothing works.

If I use IP only I keep getting FAILED TO MOUNT WINDOWS SHARE.

When, in console, I do: smbclient -L ip

I get: Connection to 192.168.1.4 failed (Error NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL)

mount it as a cifs mount point.

http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/linux-m...windows-share/

also post exactly how you are trying to mount (redact the user/pw info) in the code markers. that will help.

also what distro are you using. autofs might be a good option for you if it is a filesystem/share you will be accessing from time to time.

Firewall? NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL

Setting up rules in the firewall between server/client for ports 445,139 etc might do it for your case as in above.

And then there's SELinux there as well as a potential area to visit.

Cheers,

Did you check the ping status between Windows and Unix clients? Are they in same network area?
Briefly show us that how you're accessing/mounting the Unix dir. from Windows machine.
Could you try accesssing the content using \\192.168.1.4\ or \\192.168.1.4\<directory> command from windows Run prompt box? Share the error message.
