cannot access CDROM from GNOME terminal

This is the same problem of CDROM's inaccessibility after the machine was loaded with mandrakelinux10.1. I have tried to mount the CD from terminal but to no avail. After inserting the CD,
this is what I write in the terminal: -
mount -t iso9660 dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom
The system generates the following message: -
mount: block device dev/cdrom is write-protected, mounting read-only
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on dev/cdrom, or too many mounted file systems
What am I supposed to do now? Please help.

Try the following:
Code:

mount -t auto /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom
Not all cd-roms use the iso9660 filesystem, so it's worth a shot atleast.

try
Code:

mount -t iso9660 /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom
with a forward slash infront of dev/cdrom
