Cancel command 'passwd'

How do I cancel the command 'passwd' without typing new or old passwd and without closing the terminal?

Welcome to LQ.

You do not supply much information about your use case, so here is the simplest answer:

Hit the <ENTER> key when prompted for the old password to exit without resetting the password.

Whether or not the terminal closes depends on how passwd was invoked, not on how you exit from it.

If this does not answer your question, then please ask the real question clearly and describe what you are trying to do.

Hit ctrl+c at any of the prompts

ak,

Welcome to LQ.

Putting your query to one side, it is probably a good idea to change your username to avoid receiving spam.
