Canada: Knoppix CD Question.

I live in Montreal, Canada. Is there any local store in Montreal, where I can go IN PERSON and buy a Knoppix Linux CD ? If not, are there any magazines etc., that might carry a free copy of the Linux Knoppix CD ? Thank You.

Vijay  :newbie:

Not sure if you can buy it in stores or which magazines would carry it, you can buy it on TuxCd's
I'm pretty sure they ship to canada, although you'll probably end up paying more for the shipping then the actual cd.

Hmm, I reread the rules and realized my post was a violation of one of the rules, so I'm editing it

Take care,
James

rvijay - I'm from Montreal as well, I've never seen it sold in stores, however I have 2 suggestions for you.

1 - Attend MLUG (Montreal Linux User Group..they have a website somewhere) and I'm sure someone will have either copies to give or will be willing to make a copy.

2 - Give me a shout, if you're flexible and patient (since I have a pretty hectic schedule right now) maybe I can get you a copy since you're in the area.

Thanks very much. I appreciate the assistance. I was however able to get several Distros in the mail including Knoppix from www.almostfreelinux.com at excellent price over the mail.

Vijay

Montreal CD Vendor

I just saw your post... I'm getting a bit ahead of myself, but I've got a website brewing to sell gnu/linux and other open source / free software thru mail, mostly in Canada.
I'm in Montreal, so you could simply drop by if you haven't found your knoppix cd. I have the latest as I'm writing this, september 5th, 2003.
Here's the url:

Starting a New Store is a big project. You are welcome. :)

Where is your store located in Montreal ? Either there is no address on the site, or I missed it.

And I still haven't figured how to enter newlines in this forum...
Scratch that, it magically works :)

P.S.: if you click on the ads from the front page, that will show your support *hehe*
P.P.S.: it's not really a store. That's my home address. But I'm here all the time, and I'm always happy to receive guests :)

It needn't necessarily be a brick and mortar store. Some small home based businesses offer excellent services.

At $3/- shipping Knoppix CD is very good. However, it would be good if you can consider mentioning the prices on your site for all the other Distro CDs as well. Those who shop online usually compare prices fast on web-sites and order. This is just a general suggestion.

Vijay

It's a good one :)
I'm not going to publish it here, mail/icq me if you want it, but there's a page in progress with more information. I'm halfway open - I only had the idea less then 2 weeks ago, but I've got tons of distributions already. I've been "collecting" them long before... not even sure why *hehe*

***scratching***...Why can't you just download it and donate money later?

Below is the direct link to get Knoppix.
