can you Create a live cd clone of installed system?

Hello, everyone...

So I went through and reinstalled everything, and went though the software repositories and have installed and updated everything I want in my base system. Now that I have done this, which has taken around 18 hours of work, I want to create a live boot image of my system, with everything that is installed included, to install from USB before I personalize anything, in case of major screw up happening in the future, and I want it to be a live image, so I can use it on other computers as well and possibly install it as is. I am running Kubuntu 12.10 with a ton of added software downloaded and installed , and a couple of edited config scripts... I want theall the software installed to be on the live image, soi I don't think aptonCD will work for this...

Is it possible to clone the entire drive to a live installable image as it is installed on my system?

So I found a few different tools to do part of this, and I can make a backup of the system to reinstall onto this or another computer, but still looking for one that builds a live image so I can use it without installing for demo purposes. Total installed size on the hard drive is 14 gigs... so I need to put it on a 16 gig thumb drive or uses squash-fs to compress it to fit on an 8 gig, or a script builder that I can make a list of every installed file and use a tool like ubuntu customize disc that will use that list to download the files unattended and compile them onto a live iso system...

You have brought up a few issues. One is the ability to dd, tar, clone this to a flash drive. That may be possible with a few tweaks for usb.

To make this into a full live dvd would be more difficult. Most people create a live cd following some of the web pages for help. The old knoppix pages were clear and usually worked.

It think there is a tool to make live cd's and has been posted a few times here. I just can't remember that name.
