Can not type anything in xwindows

I was trying to change my window manager from enlightenent ( Red hat 6) to fvwm. I changed it to fvwm But now I can not type anything in the terminal window. Terminal window does not show cursor even after clicking on it.
I gave rechanged window manager to enlightenment but the problem persists.
( I am not able to give keyboard input using any terminal, xterminal, color terminal or not in the giver command window also.
Please help

Bit odd. All I can think is shutdown the computer - you risk frying it if you do not do this - and make sure the keyboard is plugged in properly and is working.

its not keyboard problem

When I press ctl + alt + backspace and xwindows isforcebly closed, then I can type in Linux text mode and continu, so it is not keyboard problem.
May be some configuration has changed.
Pl help

check your /etc/inittab file make sure that you see these

# Run gettys in standard runlevels
1:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty1
2:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty2
3:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty3

if the /sbin/minigetty is missing you wont be able to type.

Thanks watcher69b,
I have checked above files. They do exist on my system and hence I am able to type in text mode.
Can you tell me which file os used by Xwindows or Gnome for keyboard input ? and where is the Gnome configuration file ?

X uses /etc/X11/xorg.conf or concievably something like /etc/X11/xf86config.

This file may say at the top how to reconfigure it. Cant remember but vaughly like: dpkg-configure --reconfigure or something.

Does the X log file say anything, perhaps about fonts? If you cant find this file then try $ startx > xerrors.txt and then $ less xerrors.txt to read it.

Re Red hat 6: This version is obsolete. If possible, update to a current version, or you may get exploited. Also, you could have probs with new application sw.
