Can not see files on CD

My CDROM and CDRECORDER have been acting strange ever since I installed CrossOffice (CX) on my SuSE 9.3 system.

I will spare you all the iterations of not seeing and then seeing the devices mount and not mount automatically.

I have literally spent weeks on this researching the mount command and ect/fstab configuration.

I am at the point where the CDROM and CDRECORDER device icons appears on the desktop and in My Computer. However I cannot see the files on the actual CD. As a matter of fact after I insert a CD it spins up I click on the icon and it tells me “no media found”

Any ideas

Is there an option to right-click and "Mount CD-ROM" ?

"No media found?" Have you excluded the possibility of a hardware malfunction, of the drive?
