can not run Make script after running ./configure PHP

Hi Guys,

Would appreciate getting some help here for this problem.

I downloaded php-5.6.1 from http://php.net:-
gunzip php-5.6.1.tar.gz
tar -xvf php-5.6.1.tar
./configure

make

and I got this message like :-
No target to file, make file not found.

and could not continue on with make and make install.

Can you guys give me a little help here?

Thanks in advance.

Regards.

You will not get a usable php-5 that way.
Usually "./configure" is followed by the required "70" options.

Getting php : # yum install php
→ provides php-5.5.0

PHP-5.6 source package http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedo...1.fc21.src.rpm
>>> php-5.6.1-1.fc21.src.rpm
$ rpm -Uvh php-5.6.1-1.fc21.src.rpm
$ rpmbuild -bb php.spec
-
Attached Files
File Type: txt configure-5.6.1__ref.php.spec.txt (7.4 KB, 7 views)

Would be useful if you tell us which distribution you are using. If it is a debian based one you could use

apt-get search php

and install all liszed components with something like

sudo apt-get install php5 php5-cli

If there are no specific reasons to install version 5.6 you get much more easily started with a pckage your distribution provides.

Thumbs up

Thanks guys.

It is a success to install PHP-5 using #yum install php
I got it done within minutes after reading your post.
I don't really need the newest version anyway.

Yes, I am using Fedora 19, and it works fine for me.

Now, I have Apache, PHP and MySQL on my machine
for learning with Website design.
