Question Can Not retrieve mail from a windows machine


I am currently running Linux Slackware 8.0 when I connect to it on machine to retrieve mail I get an error

Pop server did not respond with OK upon connection, The error was :

I get no error explaination. When I was using Slackware 7.1 I never had to configure anything it just worked :smash:

What happens when you telnet to the port?
Code:
telnet 127.0.0.1 110
You should see the POP server reply with something like:
Code:
+OK POP3 ... <other stuff>

Make sure that the pop line in your inetd.conf file is uncommented.

pop3    stream  tcp     nowait  root    /usr/sbin/tcpd  gnu-pop3d

That worked like a charm. I've been scratching my ass on that problem for over a week I never thought to look there. Thanks for the help
