Can NOT get Ubuntu to print to Windows 7 attached printer
2 Attachment(s)
I have a laptop running Ubuntu 10.04 and my basement computer running Windows 7. I want to be able to access files on on both computers from either. I also want to be able to print from my laptop to the printer attached to the basement computer.
I finally got printing working. Then I tackled the filesharing. I finally get filesharing working and now, I can't get printing working again, even though I've gone back to the version of smb.conf that I had when I was able to print. So here is what I've got. <->testparm Attachment 4861 <-> Printer State When I look at my printer properties in Ubuntu I see the status: Idle - Unable to connect to CIFS host after (tried 3 times) Cups Error Log When I look at the Printer Error Log, I see: (partial) Attachment 4862 I can ping the IP address of the windows box 192.168.0.5, but when I try to ping the name owner-pc it fails. This would lead me to beleive that the there is a name resolution problem. That is where I get stuck. Where do I go from here? |
Hi jlavik, Welcome to LQ. You can start here.
http://www.faqs.org/docs/Linux-mini/...ing_to_windows You can configure CUPS to look for the ip instead of the hostname/netbios name if that's the problem. Good luck. ;-) |
