Can not connect to the Internet on Suse11

Hi all,
I have installed Suse 11 on my PC. Initially the network setting was done automatically. I checked the configuration and i found everything OK but still i am not able to connect with Internet. I did manual configuration too but no good result. I am able to ping my gateway's IP but i can't ping DNS.
Please suggest me.

How did you install opensuse ?
From a CD if so normally it connect with the opensuse server to update, this works ?
How did you connect to the internet using a ethernet card and a modem-router ?
Is opensuse they only OS you use or did you also use a other OS.
If you also use a other OS can this one connect to the internet ?
