hi everyone

i have been trying to install using an external dvd drive.
but i get a kernel panic.
i have to pass "noapic" parameter but still the system does not boot.
it gives some kind of shell prompt like:

(initram):

i can use some commands but then there is no way i can install the operating system.
i have tried with ubuntu, zenwalk, mint.
also tried with untangle firewall tool which also based on debian.
but nothing works out.
but if i try to boot using xp, i can do that and start the installation.
can anyone please help me out of this???

i don't know how but i solved my problem
i did not use any new settings but still got it working and installed the untangle program that i wanted to for firewalling my network.
