Can MSN operate on Linux?


CAn MSN and ICQ operate on Linux?? If not, are there any like applications of instant messaging? Im using Mandrake 9.1. Thanks a lot, guys!

Gaim can run them both along with many others. No need for two separate programs.

If you are married to the idea of 2 seperate programs - LICQ and aMSN would probably fit the bill.

Just a quick one, same topic though. Is it possible to use the Ms version under wine? I want to play thet games on it but none of the linux versions have them.

You could try running it under Wine, but I think MSN may need IE.

I haven't found anything at all about running MSN Messenger and Wine though - you may be the first!

It wouldnt surprise me if it needed IE. It would be worth the try though. I will give it a go when I return back to my linux.

well i dont' even have to know the answer to know that if its built by microsoft then it has IE integrated into it some way shape or form ...
as far as them games go (including msn itself), i suggest you stop now and don't bother wasting your time

but IMO u should stick with kopete

From that link, it looks like people have had limited success in running the older versions. Im thinking that it would be easier just to hack up aMSN and get it to run with the games. Oh well. Ill still try it though.

u can run licq, gaim, trillian and more porgrams which are connecting under the sames protocols
