I'd just like to know if anybody knows how i can get linux to play mp4's? As i understand it, you can "assign" a music-program to play a particular format, e.g, mp4, ..but so far i have had no luck getting any of the Mandriva music software to play them. Any idea what i must do?
xmms can do it download faad2 read the readme and install files. mplayer can play mp4/aac files to. post back let me know how it goes.
I got linux(i don't know what version) and i got mplayer but i can't play .mp4 files .
I get this error:
Cannot find codec for audio format 0x6134706D
Please help me
And i downloaded faad2 but it's an .exe file and only windows can open it
Linuxxer8 - to find out your version of Linux, run the following command in a terminal:
Code:
cat /etc/*version* /etc/*release*
and post back the results. We should be able to point you to the correct install file and method. And welcome to LQ
Result:
Code:
[user@localhost home]$ cat /etc/*version* /etc/*release*
cat: /etc/*version*: No such file or directory
Fedora release 8 (Werewolf)
Linpus Linux Lite v1.0.13.E
cat: /etc/lsb-release.d: Is a directory
Fedora release 8 (Werewolf)
Fedora release 8 (Werewolf)
Maybe you should check if the win32 codecs for mplayer are installed. I don't know Fedora, but you can use the package manager to check and if it is not installed then install it. Good luck!
