Can Linux join NT domains?

Hi,
I can use either a VPN connection or join the NT domain to access the internet. The VPN works fine but is slower when compared to domain access. Is there anyway I can join the windows domain on Linux and also allow sharing folders and other stuff.
Thanks

Yes, I had my Mandrake 10.0 Box at work functioning seamlessly with the Winblows NT 4.0 network. It doesn't take more than a moment or two to configure SAMBA to allow you to communicate with the server, etc. The link about has a bit of information about it.

Thanks but does samba support authentication also? because whenever I login to the domain it has to start several processes like kix32 and urtclsvc for authentication and unless they are started you are not allowed to access the internet.

hmmmmmmm, it was OK, b4 some time, now the system crashed, and i have no time to fix it (i am not sys admin, but a kind of, in a little office)
it used 'guest' login, i don't remember the exact, i have to re-read. but every computer could log on, and see the shares .
i check the site www.oreilly.com\catalog\samba2\book
