Can I use my dedicated server as proxy server

Hello,

My real problem is that I want to surf speedily and freely in countries where there are many restrictions are imposed on internet like Syria and Iran

I tried to achieve this goal by finding the method to run browser from my dedicated server.

Please refer my this post:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...om-ssh-941461/

But this not worked as Xming on windows starting browser but not working even after spending 15+ minutes its not opened a single website for me.

Please help me to set "Tunneling" type methods to connect my laptop browser to the server

Thanks in anticipation

In the thread you posted, they explained why it is likely to be exceptionally slow. You also didn't reply to the last post, where they are still trying to help you with alternatives. Was there a reason you started a new thread?

Have you tried using the Tor browser bundle? That should (hopefully) let you browse directly from your own computer, and hence speed up your page load time. Alternatively, set up the server as an actual (HTTP) proxy server, which would send you the page HTML, rather than an image of the page.

However, if you are going to do anything like this (with or without Tor) in a country where it could have potentially life-threatening consequences, I would at the very least ask to have this thread transferred to the Linux - Security forum, to get more knowledgeable people have a look at it.

Thanks for your reply. I tried Tor but its also not working. Sometimes it works and sometime not.

It sounds good but I am very beginner. Can you please advise how?

Thanks in anticipation

Squid is nice, and documentation for Squid and setting it up (esp. for beginners) can be found here: https://www.packtpub.com/squid-proxy...ers-guide/book

Or, if you don't like squid...

I am using Redhat Enterprise Linux - OS ES 5.0.

Please advise which proxy server will be easier and better for me as a beginner?

Please post your thread in only one forum. Posting a single thread in the most relevant forum will make it easier for members to help you and will keep the discussion in one place. This thread is being closed because it is a duplicate.
