Can I install Mandrake, Redhat and WinXP Pro on the same Hard drive
Hello,
I was wondering if it possible to have 3 booting partition on a hard drive. One with WinXP Pro, one with Linux RedHat and one with Mandrake. Im a tech in a college and a teacher ask me if his student could use those 3 program on the same hard drive.
Of course. You need 3 partitions. Run Mandrake installer, ONLY to partition disk. Then reboot, install winXP on first partition. Then install RedHat on second, then Mandrake on third ( i think best will use lilo from mandrake). Then you must configure lilo.
1-windows mount partition
2-Ext3 partition with / as mount
3-Swap partition
4-another Ext3 partition but I didnt know what to use as mount so I put /Mandrake
after I installed Windows XP Pro everything was OK.
then i installed redhat on partition 2, everything was ok.
but when its come to mandrake he want to be installed on the redhat partition look like its doesnt see my second ext3 partition. I tried to create another / mount partition but i didnt work.
I also try to put mandrake on the free space of the windows partition, its work but then red hat wasnt working anymore.
I think Mandrake should see 4th partition...
Run redhat, open terminal and write "fdisk -l"
It will list your disks.
Which disk is it ? (hda, hdb, hdc, hdd?)
Are on disk really four partitions ?
End, when you run Mandrake from CD, are there X windows, or only console?
