Can I install Family Tree Maker 2008 using PCLinuxOS KDE 2013.07?

I am quite new to linux, having installed it a few weeks ago. I've been researching my family history for more than 20 years and am/was using Family Tree Maker 2008 and have thousands of names in my file. Is there a way to install and/or use this FTM program on my PCLinuxOS? I so don't want to start from scratch on Gramps.

Thanks in advance for your help.

2008 is rated "Garbage" at http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManage...cation&iId=494

So I'd install Virtualbox and install Windows (xp?) and then install FTM2008 in Windows.

Alternatively, you can try to import your work into Gramps: http://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/i...ealogy_program

Switched to Mint 15 Cinnamon but still can't import GEDCOM from FTM into Gramps

I've switched to Mint 15 Cinnamon and found FTM 2009 that I had not yet opened. Was successful in installing it into my old PC which has WinXP and was able to import the Personal Ancestral File I had stored on a CD. Was then able to generate a GEDCOM file and write it onto a CD. I then inserted CD into drive and the file appears on my desktop. Following the instructions at the link provided by TobiSGD, I tried importing the GEDCOM into Gramps but received error: "Gramps has experienced an unexpected error...your data will be kept safe but it is advisable to restart Gramps immediately", which I did to no avail. I also sent a bug report. Any suggestions on where to go from here?
